Devyn Bauer

Devyn Bauer is a Researcher II in the Neuromodulation Research Center at the University of Minnesota - Medical School. The preclinical research he performs is focused on behavioral neurophysiological (single unit, multi-unit, and local field potentials) changes in non-human models of Parkinson’s disease (PD), particularly within and across the supplementary motor areas (SMA). He is interested in the pathophysiology of movement disorders and the mechanisms of action of deep brain stimulation (DBS) with its associated changes in motor and non-motor functions.

As an aspiring physician, he not only performs preclinical research and but also shadows movement disorder physicians to fully understand this unique bench to bedside approach. Lastly, he volunteers at Care Partners, Abbott Northwestern Hospital, and Open Arms. To support PD patients and their families, he serves as a volunteer committee member in the APDA MN chapter and created a new Climb for PD event to raise awareness of PD in a younger population.
